Grand Terrace Apartment

Grand Terrace Apt BCN

This will be our home away from home while we are staying in Barcelona.?? The hunt for an apartment is a little more difficult when traveling with a 1 year old and a 3 year old as they require the most amenities!?? A bath tub was a must and somewhat hard to find.??????An elevator, or lift as some would say, was another thing to keep in mind since a lot of older buildings through out Europe do not have this modern convienence.????To haul the kids up 4 flights of stairs would not be enjoyable.??

A washing machine, high chair, baby cot and some reasonable amount of play space were all on the list for the kiddies as well.???? Not to mention Harris’s must have, wireless internet connection since he will be working a bit from Barcelona.?? Oh and then there??were my demands…….only one really, it had to be cute and have some character.

??Goodbye for now, my next blog will be coming from Barcelona!

3 Days Till Barcelona

September 27, 2007 :: Posted by - Harris :: Category - Harris Stuff

Hey everyone. We’ve got just 3 more days till we leave for Barcelona. Andrea’s got clothes folded up and laid out here and there — so, I think we’re at least partially packed. A friend of mine, Matt, asked me the other day how the heck we travel with small kids…

Truthfully, we went to Breckenridge for 2 weeks this year with the kiddies – and we swore we wouldn’t travel with them until they were much older. So, I totally understand what my friend was saying. But my wife and I really love travelling – and once you’ve got the bug – it’s hard to let go of.

Here’s my answer to Matt, when he asked me ‘how do you travel with small kids’: My wife’s a saint, day care, and babysitters

Plus, we’ve got our good friend “Uncle Merlin” coming along as well. So, we think it’s going to be okay this time.??Oh, and we’re purposefully going for 30 days to give us time to get settled in and really ‘live there’ for a little while, get into habits for the kids, etc. etc.

Andrea found quite a few schools that are willing to take both McKenna and Hudson. The schools that were really close to our apartment didn’t seem to speak much English — so, it came down to Kinder Barcelona or Blossom.?? We ended up settling on Kinder because it was more ‘in the city’. Otherwise, Blossom looks like the best darn school in the area. Both teach in English, Spanish and Catalan.

My credo is “Don’t use your kids as an excuse, use them as a reason.”

Anyway, like I said, we love to travel and we decided to ‘keep on travellin” even with the kids. Ultimately, I’d love to just live in Europe or have a second home there or something like that. So, we’re looking at this trip like an experiment — to see how it goes — since I can just take my laptop with me and keep on working, the reality is we’re going to Barcelona to give me a reason to get out of the house and off the laptop.

On that note – I guess I better go get some actual work done instead of writing on this blog. Wow, we’re leaving in just 3 days!
